Before joining the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), Dr. Darius Nikanpour worked in the space industry as a consultant aerospace engineer in both UK & Italy, working on several telecom and earth observation satellites and subsequently on human spaceflight programs, including the European spaceplane & manned modules of the International Space Station.
He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (UK) and is a graduate in Air & Space Law (McGill). He joined the Government of Canada in 1994, working in both Natural Resources Canada and at CSA in senior engineering positions.
He has numerous publications and patents in the area of space thermal control & novel smart materials; and has provided several media interviews & presentations on space technologies and innovation in his field of expertise.
He is also an adjunct professor at Carleton University (Ottawa) and Concordia University (Montreal).
